they were dancing on notes

finally the day has arrived for me to see camera obscura in person, since the day doofus aka weelee (who doesn't read my blog anymore I don't think but ahseng or andrew, please help me tell him thanks and I'm forever grateful!) introduced them to me ages ago, and I fell in love with eighties fan during my first listen. colin bought the tix while he was in japan and I was in kl. that was some 2 and a half months ago.

they were brilliant. I was hoping and hoping that they will play eighties fan. it isn't very likely that they will include the song in their set list because they will be playing their new album, since it is probably the most popular album of theirs to date (... or to my limited knowledge anyway haha).

they opened up with come back margaret. we thought they will open up with lloyd I'm ready to be heartbroken. but clearly we were wrong. they played that song three quarters into the set. they played colin's favourite song - books written for girls nearing the end.

there was the set... I was praying hard... they went offstage... and we were still clapping and some people at the back were stomping their feet (oookkaayyy)... and they came back onstage... and tracyanne announced their first encore tune... eighties fan. (!!!!!!!) I got so excited I squeezed colin's arms too hard. I was thinking after that song that I can walk away from the gig really really satisfied now... and they finished with razzle dazzle rose...

the photos below obviously have been digitally enhanced.... hehe... nevertheless...

the support acts were good. I looked up
sly hats after colin sent me the program. I love them! and I checked out the other supporting act rand and holland before yesterday and I like them too, but it's a shame how the crowd wasn't digging them too much so it was like the louder they play, the louder the crowd got.

I found out that sly hats is actually a side project of Geoff, the lead singer of
the crayon fields, which I checked out today. and talk about slow in discovering bands, they supported peter bjorn and john on friday. it's the way I connect to a band's sound I suppose. that when I listen to one song of theirs and it makes me feel a certain way that I cannot explain, I fall in love pretty much straightaway with their sound. I will move on to the second and third and fourth song of theirs if they are accessible and before you know it, I bought animal bells, and I rarely spend money on CDs.

it was the best monday.
